What is SERVE Philadelphia?

Serve Philadelphia is committed to reducing barriers, increasing knowledge and expanding capacity to promote active participation among Philadelphians so that everyone is empowered to create lasting positive change.

A Bonner Scholar and National Service alum of both City Year and AmeriCorps VISTA, Amanda Gamble has devoted her life to serving and creating positive change for Philadelphia’s communities. Her expertise is grounded in mobilizing communities, recruiting volunteers, and developing partnerships. She started her career working in various communities throughout Philadelphia, connecting residents to resources.

Amanda previously served as the Deputy Service Officer in the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service. In this role, she led efforts to strengthen and expand the National Service community in Philadelphia. She also developed strategies to improve and track community engagement efforts across City departments.

Amanda worked to make best practices in civic engagement and volunteering more accessible through community education efforts like the Civic Engagement Academy. She also oversaw the launch of the Mayor’s Volunteer Corps, which connects volunteers to high-quality, impactful, and rewarding service opportunities that align with the Mayor’s initiatives. As Chief Service Officer, she looks forward to continuing the work to make volunteering and civic involvement a part of every Philadelphian’s daily life.
