Graduation Coach Campaign
Julia has worked for over a decade as an educator, coach, and community organizer and is most recently the Deputy Service Officer for the City of Philadelphia. Additionally, she manages PowerCorpsPHL, an innovative, new AmeriCorps program designed to address the city’s environmental stewardship, youth workforce development and violence prevention priorities.

Volunteer Coordinator, Department of Human Services – Juvenile Justice Services
As a VISTA, Keisha started the Philadelphia Youth in Service pilot program. She went on to work as an Intensive Prevention Services Counselor at Diversified Community Services and provides outpatient therapy at NHS.
Fun Safe Philly Summer Coordinator, Mayor’s Policy Office
After her many years working toward youth empowerment, Sincere will begin graduate school at The New School in the fall of 2014.
Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, PhillyRising
After serving for one year as a Corps Member on the Civic Engagement Team for City Year and one year as an AmeriCorps VISTA with PhillyRising, Amanda was hired full-time to be a Special Projects Coordinator with PhillyRising. In April of 2014, she was recognized as an Outstanding Nominee during the Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service.

Sarah served with City Year Greater Philadelphia for one year before completing her VISTA year, which led to a job with the Mayor’s Office of Education. She hopes to continue to impact education in some capacity, whether it is through politics, social entrepreneurship, or school-based work.

After her year of service as a VISTA, Earla became a coach at the Achieving Independence Center, where she works with youth who have been or are currently in DHS care to create and complete personal, educational and professional goals.
Peer Mentor Program Coordinator, Mayor’s Commission on Literacy
As a VISTA at the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy, Mariele developed and piloted a volunteer program for adult learners. As of June 2014, she is a counselor with the Philadelphia Financial Empowerment Centers.
Project and Volunteer Coordinator, Global Citizen
At Global Citizen, Elyse developed and implemented their Mission365 veterans’ programming. She is currently working as an admissions counselor at DeSales University while getting her Masters of Education in Academic Standards and Reform.

Before becoming a VISTA, Mubarak served in City Year from 2010-2011. Mubarak launched Rising Community Enterprises LLC, a business consulting and property management company, and serves as the Vice President of Rising Sons, Inc. As of June 2014, he is the lead writer, director, and creator of a web series titled “The Homeboys,” which captures the stories of urban youth and their struggles to transition into college and obtain a degree.
