About The VISTA Member:
I am a recent Bloomsburg University graduate, with a background in Exercise Science and Anthropology. For the first three years of my college career I hopelessly followed the path of exercise science , realizing later on that it did not fuel my fire. Soon enough I stumbled upon an anthropology course and my life was changed forever. I did not want to just help heal wounds on the outside, i wanted to be the healer from within and advocate for societal issues. I interned for a domestic violence center whose mission was to provide resources for women and children dealing with abuse. I am extremely excited to begin this new journey with Housing Action Vista, Human and Health Services.
About The VISTA Position:
The Family Violence Prevention VISTA will serve as the lead coordinator of our efforts to prevent domestic violence. Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness for women and children, and thus, it is an accelerator of poverty. By continuing to build capacity for our city-wide response, aligning the efforts of domestic violence stakeholders, and bolstering our prevention programming, the VISTA will stanch this drain on the lives of low-income women and children.
