Senih Toraman

Program Development VISTA

 About The VISTA Member:

Senih is a recent immigrant from Istanbul, Turkey. He graduated from Swarthmore College with majors in Economics and French. His internship experience in public interest law along with personal experience inspired him to serve the immigrant communities in Philadelphia. He is excited to learn and grow while contributing to the work of Office of Immigrant Affairs as a Program Development VISTA.

About The VISTA Position:

The 2016 Pew Report found that Philadelphia continues to be the poorest large city in the U.S. The unemployment rate is 6.8 percent, nearly two percentage points above the national average, and approximately 31 percent of adult Philadelphians are unemployed. Other reports about immigrants, in particular, note that poverty rates are replicated in immigrant communities but go under-reported for the reasons this project hopes to address. The goal of the VISTA is to grow the capacity of OIA to continue outreach on workers rights for both immigrant workers and employers.
