Love Your Block is a strategy for residents to build community coalitions through community-organized volunteer engagement.

Philadelphia is home to many community-based organizations working to improve their neighborhoods. Each organization has its own focus area and preferred tactics, but imagine if all groups came together to have a stronger collective impact. That is Love Your Block.

The goal of Love Your Block is to bring together different community groups to use a strategic combination of tactics to build a stronger, coordinated community.

Community members and groups can be organized around the tactics listed below:

  • Cleanups

  • Community Gardens

  • Neighborhood Planning

  • Workshops

  • Block Parties and Other Celebrations

  • Civic Engagement Academies

  • Service Summits

  • Resource Fairs

Residents organizing around Love Your Block must collaborate with the following types of community organizations:

  • Registered Community Organizations (RCO)

  • Police District Advisory Council (PDAC)

  • Civic Associations

  • Faith-Based Organizations

  • Police Athletic League (PAL) Centers

  • Business Associations

  • Friends of Park/Library Groups
