Celebrating Your Service Heroes

The City of Philadelphia is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Mayor’s Day of Service Recognition Awards!

These awards honor Philadelphians that have made a positive impact in their communities through national and volunteer service. Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony this spring.

We will recognize Philly volunteers in the following categories:

  • Mayor's Philly Hero Award: Philadelphia residents who have made a unique contribution to the city through service.

 

  • Mayor's Youth Hero Award: Philadelphia residents under 18 that have made unique contributions to the city through service.

  • Mayor’s Distinguished National Service Award: Residents currently serving in AmeriCorps or Senior Corps that have gone above and beyond the requirements of their service positions.

 

  • Mayor’s Distinguished National Service Alumni Award: Residents who are alumni of AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, or Peace Corps and have continued to exemplify service throughout their lives.

History

Every year, Philadelphia joins more than 4,250 cities, counties, and tribal areas to celebrate the impact of our volunteers and National Service members.

 

Led by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Philadelphia Mayor's Day of Service Recognition adds a "Philly touch" to the nation-wide event, with special award categories, including Philly Hero and Youth Hero.

Award categories include:

  • Mayor's Philly Hero Award

  • Mayor's Youth Hero Award

  • Mayor's Distinguished National Service Award

  • Mayor's Distinguished National Service Alumni Award
