 About The VISTA Member:

I graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in English, focusing on the intersection between poetics and social practice. My experience in the mental health arena, such as working with veteran and homeless populations, contributed to my long-standing interest in the comorbidity between mental health challenges and substance abuse disorders. I am excited to expand my knowledge and extend my hand as an Opioid Emergency Response VISTA with Mission Area 6 in the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services.

Opioid Emergency Response VISTA- Mission Area 6

About The VISTA Position:

The opioid crisis is a complex health and social issue negatively impacting Kensington and surrounding neighborhoods in Philadelphia. The areas most affected have an average poverty rate of 40% or higher.  The Resilience Project is a comprehensive approach focusing on cleaning up the neighborhood and making it safe for residents while also providing compassionate, effective care and access to treatment and housing for people living with substance use disorder which will ultimately reduce poverty. The VISTA assigned to Mission Area 6,  increasing treatment options, will explore the conceptual “Treatment on Demand”, observing and reviewing the availability of and accessibility to treatment and/or support resources.
