Foster Grandparent Recognition Luncheon

December 27, 2016

On Thursday, November 17th 2016, the City recognized volunteers with the Foster Grandparent Program for their service to their schools and communities. This year’s annual recognition luncheon was organized by Sanya Brown, Deputy Service Officer of Volunteer Engagement, in collaboration with the Penn Pals of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business Management 100 course.

The program included remarks by Mayor Kenney, Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown, Chief Service Officer Stephanie Monahon and Sanya Brown. There were performances by PhilaDanco in addition to musical selections provided by Penn Pals Jimmy Gao and Nathan Chiu. A free raffle was enjoyed by all of the Foster Grandparents in addition to a screening of a testimonial video created by the Penn Pals. Every single volunteer was individually recognized by name and no one left empty handed as everyone received a gift bag filled with FGP branded merchandise. Our goal was to ensure that our Foster Grandparents left their annual recognition luncheon feeling loved and appreciated…and they did.

This magnificent event was made possible by our co-sponsor, Finley Catering, whose extreme generosity helped to put smiles on 150 deserving faces. The Philadelphia business community also came together and gave additional support and contributions towards our event and free raffle, their names are listed below:
